Concentrates

Extraction

Kria utilizes three extraction methods – ethanol, CO2, and water (solventless) – to produce extracts suited to our customers’ needs. These include full-spectrum crude oils, quality distillate, and solventless hash and live rosin extracts.

Ethanol Extraction

A high-throughput extraction method that uses chilled ethanol to extract cannabinoids together from biomass. Ethanol extraction has the highest throughput of our extraction technologies, producing a uniform, commodity extract.

The majority of our crude is distilled to eliminate the harsh flavor, increase potency, and clarify the extract. Distillation is the process of separating compounds based on their boiling point. This allows us to boil off our cannabinoids from the rest of the crude, condensing the cannabinoids to create a high potency liquid with the appearance of honey. Distillate is ideal for edibles and vape production.

Refine Terpenes and Cannabinoids

CO2 Extraction

A process using carbon dioxide to extract terpenes or cannabinoids. By manipulating the pressure and temperature of our CO2 extraction rig, we can choose to either target terpenes or cannabinoids in our extraction process.

The terpenes are used to flavor products like vapes and gummies with the original flavor compounds from the cannabis plant. Having the capacity to extract pure cannabis terpenes is a key attribute of Kria’s extraction capacity.

A Modern Approach

Solventless Extraction

A modern adaptation to ancient forms of extraction. Hash making can be traced back centuries, with the first written mention of hash consumption dating back to 1100 CE. The methods have evolved greatly since then, but the idea is the same. Using mechanical agitation, the trichome (resin head) is separated from the plant matter and sieved through a series of fine meshes to produce isolated resin heads. This is what most people refer to as hash. We craft our hand stirred hash using ice and water, no chemical solvents.

Rosin is a further refined product of ice water hash. By pressing hash through specialized filters, we melt down the active cannabinoids and filter them from the husk of the trichome head. This produces an extract that melts down fully, leaving no residual plant matter.
